the Red Hill community were closer than are many relatives today. We wouldn't take anything for the "good old days" at Red Hill!

TAYLOR IND. SCHOOL
Taylor School in the beginning was located on a spot six miles east and one mile south of the present location of Kress, Texas. This building was a small wooden structure, with possibly twenty students and one teacher.

Sometime around 1923, a new two room brick building was built approximately one and a half miles east of the original location. From this time on, Taylor had two teachers with the enrollment reaching approximately forty to fifty students.

Over the years there were many teachers hired by the school district. Some of which were: Mr. Deverau Jackson, Miss Jessie Ehresman, Miss

Elsie Ehresman, Mr. and Mrs. Royce Banks, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Vars, Mr. and Mrs. B. R. Coltharp, Mr. and Mrs. Edd Todd, and Mr. and Mrs. Warren Marshall.

Taylor Independent School District was consolidated There are many local families that were touched in some way by the Taylor School.
Some of the trustees of Taylor were: Elmer Bass, Jack Springer, T. A. Shelton, Roy Stambaugh, John Hoefer, and others.

Usually, one time during the school year, the students put on a three act play which was always a highlight of the social scene of the community.

Taylor was well known throughout the county and surrounding counties in the years of 1932 to 1940 for its good basketball teams, winning many county and area tournaments.
